History, scope, and format of the meeting
Nonequilibrium thermodynamics aims at understanding and describing the dynamics of
out-of-equilibrium systems, particularly also the relaxation towards equilibrium.
Contrary to classical equilibrium thermodynamics, nonequilibrium thermodynamics has
been in the past decades and still is a vibrant field of research with substantial
challenges that await to be solved.
In order to foster a profound comparison between the different approaches to nonequilibrium
thermodynamics, to unify these existing approaches, to identify challenges and possibly
concert research efforts, a series of workshops, called International Workshop on
Nonequilibrium Thermodynamics (IWNET), has been held

This 8th workshop is organized as follows. After arrival in the afternoon/evening of Sunday (July 1),
the scientific program starts on Monday morning (July 2) and ends on Friday (July 6) around lunchtime.
It will consist of presentations (oral and poster) and discussion rounds. For a small number of
pre-selected topics, one speaker per topic will be invited (see Scientfic program); the remainder consists of regular contributions,
about the pre-selected topics or other topics of interest to this community. The program is rounded off by an afternoon-excursion and a BBQ-dinner.
