Abstract: The heat transfer and entropy production in the parallel plate flow of a power-law fluid are analyzed. Asymmetric convective cooling is included in the analysis by considering thermal boundary conditions of the third kind. Peculiarities related to the temperature field for certain values of the power-law index, to our knowledge not reported so far, are pointed out. In cases where physical solutions of the temperature field are obtained, conditions for minimum entropy generation are determined.
